It’s been a while since my last post; it’s a very busy time with year-end closures, and I’m very busy with that.

But last week, I wanted to attendee Oracle AI World Tour Milan. AI is a vast topic, especially seeing it applied to Oracle’s countless applications. Many are talking about a true revolution. What more does AI offer to our “EPM niche”? From a user perspective, I’ve seen insights with predictive analytics and anomalies reporting in actual and budget / forecasting data. I believe it’s a change in the way we do analysis, a solid guide for EPM users to understand how business is going on, a great potential for graphics/charts with automatic commentary on business events.

These are high-impact dashboards that offer CFOs and controllers an overview of the most important metrics to monitor. From there, we can then go into in-depth analysis across all reporting.

I believe it is a process that should be “industrialized” and integrated over time into company’s Financial Close, so that it can provide significant added value to management control analysis, both in terms of identifying critical issues and reducing the time dedicated to this.

Last but not least, as users say: the quality of source data, first of all, is a must.
